Frequently Asked Questions

How long will the case last? How tough can a 3D print be?

Our 3D printed cases have been put the the test by dozens of chimney sweeps over the last year and by us personally for 2 years. We rigorously test our cameras with drop test in freezing temperatures and have tweaked the design, material, and manufacturing to be as strong and light weight as possible. We've done everything we can to make these cases as durable as possible but accidents happen. That is why every case has a two year accident warrantee. Simply reach out and we will get a replacement to you as soon as possible.

Why Insta360

Once we determined that a 360 camera would best meet our needs, we bought up every camera we could find and even tried making our own. Insta360's camera blew us away in every test! Insta360 had above and beyond focus, durability, battery life, ease of use and range making all our other options obsolete.

What size damper can it fit in?

It will fit through a 8 inch damper with a center pivot or a 6 inch stove pipe no problem. The case is only 4 by 1-inch.

How well does it maintain video streaming connection?

Our new Sweeper Peeper XR (eXtended Range) model has been tested up to 40 feet! In theory it can go even higher! However finding a 4 story chimney was hard enough in west Texas. As a bonus this extended range comes with a higher resolution live view at 2K.

But, if you have a Mk.I don't worry! Both models allow you to record as a back up if you lose signal and play back the video in the same 360 view function.

What If I don't use ButtonLok?

I have found ButtonLok works with most rods or can be made to work. I know for certain SnapLok works but if you want to see compatibility with another brand reach out and if we have enough demand for a specific brand we can release a small batch.

Why do I need a camera?

We do a scan on every chimney inspection now. It only takes a few minutes and finding a crack or gap in the joints turns a level 1 into an insert sale or a heat shield application. Money making aside, an inspection just isn't complete without a quick scan.

Do I need extra batteries or lights?

For the camera, we have done close to 8 scans a day for 6 months and we have yet to swap the original battery. We ultimately decided to trade in the ability to quickly swap the battery in the case for rigidity. So, an extra battery won't be necessary.

The lights have a 1 hour run time on high and 3 on medium which I prefer. Again, an extra pair isn't necessary but if the peace of mind is worth it to you its a fast easy swap. We usually just plug them in over lunch so we don't have to worry about it.

How long does it take to do a scan?

You can expect to take 3-4 minutes to do a thorough inspection. It takes about 20-30 seconds to connect to the app and its up to the technician from there.

How do you transfer content to your inspection software?

Simply screenshot and attach. If your using an iPad, we suggest you turn on the gestures function to make screenshots one handed and easy to edit.
